Bridge for beginners: learn the game step by step
Bridge is a partnership card game where each deal has two connected parts: bidding for a contract and then trying to win enough tricks.
What Bridge is
Four players sit in two partnerships. North and South play together, and East and West play together.
The goal of a deal
The auction chooses a contract. During play, the declaring side tries to make it while defenders try to defeat it.
How bidding works
Players bid to describe strength and suits. The final contract sets the trump suit, level, and declarer.
What to practice first
Start with following suit, counting winners, and choosing simple contracts before learning many conventions.
